Packet Pickup & Late Registration

Saturday April 11, 2015 - 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.


First Class Event T-shirt

All entrants will receive a great event runner's shirt. This year we have what is called a tri-blend. It is a super soft shirt that still has wicking capabilities but can be worn anywhere. We know you are going to like our shirt!


Age Group Awards

Awards will be presented to the top three men and women finishers in each of the following age groups : 19 & under, 20-24, 25 - 29, 30 - 34, 35 - 39, 40 - 44, 45 - 49, 50 - 54, 55 - 59, 60 - 64, 65 - 69, 70+. The top overall and masters male and female will be awarded special trophies.

Half Marathoners will need to check whether they have qualified for an age group award. If you cannot stay for the awards cermony and be recognized, go to the awards table to retrieve your age group award.

Notice!

When you cross the finish line, our timing system records your finish time and age group place which can be viewed on a computer in the registration area within 5 to 10 minutes after finishing. 

Although we always do awards ceremonies in a quick and timely manner, if you cannot stay for the announcement of winners go to where you see the actual awards on a table. We will have staff there to verify your qualification of an award. They will give you your award if you must leave early.

We will not mail any awards not picked up at the event. 

Finisher Rewards

At all Mellew Production events, we try to call out everyone's name as you finish.

All half marathon finishers will receive a great medal. This year at Big D you get two finisher medals! One to show and one to wear!

Start & Finish Line Location

The Texas Marathon events will start and end in historical Fair Park in the shadow of the Cotton Bowl near downtown Dallas, Texas. There will be plenty of free parking available at Fair Park and you can relax, stretch and prepare for The Texas Marathon in the beautiful surroundings of Fair Park. Please read the detailed directions on our directions page as to the best way to arrive at Fair Park.

Think Pink!

Mellew Productions is pleased to announce that we will now offer pink stations at Big D!
We will have one pink station on half marathon courses and two pink stations on full marathon courses.  Each station will be identified by a pink sign.  You will find both feminine supplies and a Midol type pain medication available as needed.  Just ask one of the volunteers to direct you to the supply case.

DART light rail now travels to Fair Park!

Be sure to visit the DART website for schedules and station maps. Keep in mind trains do not run very often on Sunday morning. At this point trains will only arrive at Fair Park 3-4 times before race start. However if you plan ahead you can avoid car traffic and let DART do the driving. We will have bag check for everyone.

Hydration Stations

We will have aid stations positioned approximately every 1 1/2 to 2 miles. Not only will they provide you with water, sports drinks, and other goodies, but they will also be competing for $1,000 in prize money. Their job is to please you! Our Sports drink is GatorAde. Their job is to please you! Information on water stations and port-o-let placement on the course will be posted for the new courses in late 2014.

Medical

Race day medical services include first aid medical stations with ambulance service at the start, finish and on the course. We will also have basic medical supplies at each Hydration station.

Chip Timing at Big D Texas Marathon & Half Marathon

The Texas Marathon will use the latest chip timing technology, which records your time precisely from start to finish. Your timing chip will be in your bib. Just put your bib on and you are good to go.

Pace Teams

We will have pace teams at the 2013 Big D Half Marathon. Our leaders will be guiding you to finish times of 1:40, 1:50, 2:00, 2:10, 2:20, and 2:30. Our pace teams are staffed and provided by the Dallas Running Club.

Course Time Limits

The start line will close at 8:05 a.m for the half marathon. If you arrive late, you may not be allowed to start. We will keep the finish line and course open for 7 hours from the start of the marathon; it will close at 2:30pm. We will enforce this time limit this year. Do not register for the marathon if you do not think you can finish within this time frame. 

Entry Requirements
  • You must be able to complete the marathon and half marathon in 7 hours.
  • You must be at least 12 years old to run the Big D Half Marathon. 
  • You must be at least 16 years old to run the Big D Texas Marathon.
  • Entries are not transferrable to others and there are no refunds.
  • The following are strictly prohibited from the course:
    • dogs
    • baby joggers
    • in-line skates
    • bicycles and any other non-official wheeled vehicles.
Is this a Boston Qualifier?

Yes.

Will there be a Bag Drop?

Yes, inside the Grand Place Building, you will see a large feather sign that says "Gear Check".

Race Recovery Food Court and Finish Line festival

The Texas Marathon will host a post-race party in the Grand Place Building, which is next to the start/finish line with plenty of post race food, liquids & activities.

Showers

We will have a portable shower truck facility available courtesy of the Park Cities Baptist Church. Towels and supplies are provided so you can clean up after the event should you so desire.

Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. No exceptions. There will be a service fee added to your entry fee.
